The bouncing ball

This is what my weight has done since my last loser update. No, those don't have actual numbers recorded, it's more of a representative of what's been happening. I've been bouncing along and not broken the 186 lb mark like I was hoping at the end of March.

That is until this morning. I finally weighed in at 185.6 lbs. Woot! Time for some ice cream! Or maybe not...

Bike Ride

7.78 miles
36:03 mins
63 degrees F
It was sunny today! I wore my bike shorts and a short sleeve, loose-fitting biking shirt. My fat is still too prominent to wear the tight-fitting jerseys, but hopefully, by the end of summer, I'll be able to break them out.

A side note: I weighed 186.0 again this morning, so Saturday's weight wasn't a fluke, and 185.x is just around the corner!!

As the snow melts, so do I

186.0 lbs this morning.

I need to make a chart dating back to last May to show my progress.

New Low

This was supposed to be posted Wednesday. I did indeed hit a new low weight on the 10th: 187.6 lbs.

Yes!!

As the snow melts, so do I

I weighed in at 187.8 lbs this morning. I've been bouncing in the range from about 188.4 up to about 192, so it was pretty nice to see my bottom number dip down below 188.

I'm still hoping to drop that bottom number to or below 185 before my anniversary next month on the 29th. (why, yes, it's our 19th, you must have been keeping track!)

With spring coming up soon, I'll be getting out and walking, so if I keep up the portion and snack control, I should be able to maintain my steady weight loss or even accelerate it a bit. I do need to remember "Slow and steady wins the race."

While my goal is to lose weight, I want to achieve it by living in a manner that is sustainable rather than losing the weight only to gain it back when I go back to my bad habits. I want to get these new habits in place and workable so that they become the norm. That way, I can keep the weight off!

Just a big loser

I weighed myself last night, and the scale reported 189.2 lbs. Now this was great news because I usually lose anywhere from a half a pound to a pound over night!

So what did the scale have to say this morning?

188.6 lbs.

...and there was much rejoicing.

BROKEN!!

I weighed myself this morning.

189.8 lbs.

The 190 lb barrier has been broken! We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog post.

Random Thoughts

Yeah, everyone(on my currently played server Andorhal) but Daxea has done their Cooking grind.
For the record, I wasn't going to do squat with this new holiday until Jay pointed out the huge benefit, so I'm pinning my obsession on him. /pin

I have three toons that are sharing my Heirloom gear - a rogue, a hunter, and a druid. The druid currently has one dagger, the chest, and the shoulders; the rogue and hunter are sharing the other dagger and the bow. Of course, if (strike that, when) I play either the rogue or hunter with any intent on engaging in combat, I'll be mailing all the items to them.

This morning I weighed in at 190.8 lbs; unfortunately, one of the interns brought in chocolate chip cookies today. Let's just say that I've started my Thanksgiving eating early....

My wife and I started our six weeks to 100 push ups program. I was an idiot and did 15 in the initial test, which places me in the third column. Why didn't I sandbag like I always do at work??? /sigh. I really need to think about this competitive side of me and getting it under control.

On Monday, I ended up doing 47 pushups in 5 sets. Tonight I'll be doing at least 50. Meanwhile, my wife got off easy on Monday with only 12, and they were GIRL pushups at that! Yeah, don't talk to me about equality of the sexes!

My favorite knock knock joke:
Knock, Knock
Who's there?
Control Freak. NOWYOUSAYCONTROLFREAKWHO!!

I got mentioned on Kapau's 50 best WoW blogs! It looks like he sells stuff on his site, but what the hey, here's the link: http://www.wowfreetrial.info/50-best-updated-world-of-warcraft-blogs/

What do you call a walking stick made out of dried grapes? Raisin Cane.

I had Chicken Korma for lunch today. Yes, it was awesome. Yes, I made it Monday night. No, you can't have any.

It looks like the guild I joined has had some...uh...members leave(SOMEBODY STOP THE BLEEDING!!!). Several of the toons belonged to someone that I've mentioned on this post (no, not me). It looks like Deviant couldn't sustain the people willing to raid, and a lot of the officers/gm's haven't logged on in several days, so.../shrug, I know I ain't gonna step up and raid...

My co-worker, Lonnie, is starting a blog. As soon as he makes his first post, I'm going to run over there and comment on it: FIRST! I may link to it after I get in the virgin comment.

One of our interns (not the evil cookie bringer iner) has his mom and his brother in town and made the very poor choice to bring them in to work. Upon learning this (and before they arrived) I offered to punch the brother in his face; the intern declined the magnaminous proposal but reserved the right to pick it up in the future.

So, the family bringer iner intern's family ended up bringing in brownies. These interns are all the same: EVIL!

One more note about this particular intern, he introduced me to his brother, but didn't introduce me to his mom. Two things I wonder: "Why?" and "Does the fact that I insinuated that his mom and our boss are talking about his 'special' diet have anything to do with it?"

I'll be working Friday...well, 'working' is such a strong word...more like, I'll be sitting on my butt at my place of employment surfing the internet all day (all the clinics are closed, MRI is closed, surgery is closed = nothing to do). Ok, so I do that most days...I'll be doing more of it on Friday! Your tax dollars at...erm, work.

Weight Update

So, it's been a while (a month or so) since I updated my weight loss.

I gained a pound or two (literally, not figuratively) on my vacation, so the last month, I've been working toward getting back down to my pre-vacation weight. Now, I haven't been working that hard, so it's taken longer.

But, last week, I had a morning weight of 191.0 lbs, which is right around what I weighed before I left on vacation.

The cooler part is that I am able to fit into some of my 34' pants now (I have been wearing 36's), and I didn't even realize that I was wearing some of the smaller jeans until my wife pointed it out to me. So much for being the observant one...

/scratches head

Ok, so I posted yesterday about how I broke the 194 lb mark....and last night, I weighed in at 192.8 lbs.

And this morning....191.8 lbs!

I didn't think I was doing that much to lose weight....maybe...just maybe, I've been full of crap.

And, well, you can figure out the rest....

The Melting continues

Over the weekend, I dropped below the 194 lb mark.

Now, of course, my weight fluctuates by a couple of pounds within a day and from day to day, but I'm pretty encouraged by seeing the low point of the swing moving down.

So, what have I been doing to drop this tonnage?

1. Walking. I try to get in 4-5 walks/week if not more. The walks are mainly for my wife and I to spend a little time together and to run some energy out of Denali, but they also serve to run some fat out of me!

2. Portion control. I like to eat good food, and I can make some gooooooood food. I haven't really changed what I eat; I just try to eat a little less of it.

3. Eating better. I just said that I haven't really changed what I eat, but I have changed a little - more salads and cut out soda. I also can't remember the last time I had a beer.

4. Embracing hunger. Like most people, I don't like being hungry. But guess what, I'm not going to die from being hungry. Yes, I'll be uncomfortable. Yes, it hurts a bit. Yes, I'm tempted to gorge. But, I keep reminding myself why I'm feeling the hunger and the benefits of guttin' it out.

5. Stopping snacking. Along with #4, I have stopped the between meals snacking, with the exception of my mid morning snack around 9:30 (I have breakfast at 4:30 am and lunch at 11 am so the time in between is a bit long). I used to eat whenever I got hungry. No more!

6. Cutting out dessert. I love desserts. Cheesecake, torts, tiramisu, pie, you name it, I love it. I've allowed the occasional dessert, recently, but I've tried to cut back on my main meal if I'm planning on having dessert. For the most part, I've just been skipping dessert.

That's about it. My changes have been more of the lifestyle changes, and I hope that I'm able to continue them after I've reached my target weight (175 or so lbs).

BTW, I would like to be below 190 when I leave for Hawaii on Sep. 16th; wish me luck!

The Coca-Cola 340.5

It was supposed to be the Coke 600, but after postponing it yesterday to today, and then having the rain show up off and on all day, I think the NASCAR officials just threw in the towel.

So, David Reutimann won his very first Sprint Cup race and won Michael Waltrip Racing's very first Sprint Cup race. Go Reuti!

I ended up sleeping in my Murano on Sunday night so I wouldn't have to drive back and forth from Cary again. Suffice to say, I'm sore. Why didn't someone tell me that I ain't 24 any more???

Oh, and no riding today as I just got back into my hotel room at 10 pm, but I do have a weight for you!

Weight: 202.4 lbs

Yay for Mornings!

Morning Ride:(!!!!!)
9.43 Miles
49:53 minutes
Temp: 61 F
It was a little overcast and partly sunny this morning, but it was nice to get out before class. I iced my legs well last night and then took a steaming hot bath to help them recover. It did the trick cause I was able to complete my ride this morning without a lot of muscle soreness.

Day...uh, what day is it? 12 or 19

Something like that. Anyways, I biked on over to Xios in Apex for dinner. Mmmmm....Greek food!

I called ahead to ask if bike attire was appropriate for the dining room, and Hannah said that it was ok. Unfortunately for her, she didn't know that a fat, gray haired old geezer was going to show up in bike shorts. I think I heard her puking her guts out in the kitchen....

Anyways, the food was EXCELLENT, and my server was on top of everything! Kudos, Josh! He even wrapped up my leftovers so they wouldn't explode in my backpack on the ride home. BONUS!!

Afterwork Ride:
8.74 Miles
43.37 minutes
Temp: 76 F

Weight: 204.8 lbs (wow, that's quite a bit of muscle I've built, eh? Right...muscle....)

Poor Me

Yesterday, I had a pity party.....

.....and no one showed up.....

I didn't blog.

I didn't ride.

I didn't weight.

I just sat around my hotel room and felt sorry for myself.

And nobody was around to take part in my little party.....boo hoo....

But today, I kicked myself in the tush, grabbed my lapels and said, "Hey good lookin'! Why are you so down in the dumpy whumpy? You've got style! You've got dash! You have hairy armpits! So, get on out there AND GIVE ME 9.45 MILES, SCUMBAG!!!!!"

So, I did.

Afterwork Ride:
9.45 Miles
46:35 minutes
Temp: 71 F
I went a little different route than my usual morning ride; I stayed on the streets and kinda just cruised. It felt nice to shake off my doldrums and forget for a minute about being away from my family.

In other news, I finished 1984; what a depressing book. I can't wait for the government Thought (read political correctness) Police find me, and I'm taken away to Room 101 for re-education. I'm sure they're monitoring me as I write.

Day 11

Afterwork Ride:
9.33 Miles
46:21 minutes
Temp: 73 F
It was sunny and comfortable today. I really didn't want to get out and ride, though. I chalk it up to laziness. But, I did get out and ride, and I'm glad I did. I did my usual morning loop and found myself dodging a lot of walkers and runners.

This will probably be my last ride for the week as tomorrow after work, I catch a plane for Indy! YAY! I get to see my wife!! I can't wait!

Miles for the Week: 35.5 Miles
Weight: 201.8 lbs
