Ridin' the Missouri

This run started at Knickerbiker bike shop where we rented 3 bikes for my wife, myself, and my son.  Michael and Ro had their bikes and the Missouri river trail in Great Falls, MT stretched before us!

where we took advantage of the free festival to go through the museum and eat lunch.

The second leg took us out to Giant Springs where we sat in the shade of the trees and enjoyed the scenic springs and river.

The third leg is rolled into the second leg and was the trip back to the bike shop.  All in all, a nice slow ride with beautiful, albeit quite warm, day.

Montana!

I rode the bike while my father in law ran.  It's the only way I can keep up with him!  I didn't bring Da Beast (he's getting some much needed maintenance from Gray Goat Sports), so I rode Michael's bike.  I did use my Garmin 305 to track my mileage, so you can view my route at mapmyrun.com; search Lewistown, MT and Rysteranch's map should be on there.

Anyways, we are on our vacation to the mountain states (Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado) to see family and spend some time at Yellowstone National Park. My father in law and his wife (Ro from A Sage of Montana) live half the year here in Lewistown and the other half down in Florida.

Michael says he wants to do 20 miles on his 66th birthday this coming Monday, so I need to get the rear toughened up a bit.

A fine evening for a bike ride

It's 82 degrees and clear.  A bit hot for running but just fine for bike riding.  We went a little further this time and rode a little bit on a busy street.  Nobody died or even got sideswiped, so...success!

Oh, also, we had ice cream on the ride, so WIN!

An evil plan...well, not EVIL...just...uh, nvm...

Yes, that is biking.  I am not ashamed to say that biking is my preferred form of exercise and...my true love.  I am trying to get my wife into biking with me (hence the evil plan), and both of these rides I did with her.

We're taking it slow as both of our posteriors need breaking in, and we also need to develop those muscles.  In addition to that, my wife needs bike time to get used to shifting and riding in traffic as well as getting comfy on her bike.

I guess one of her new coworkers rides a tandem bike with her husband and is pretty enthusiastic about it.  So, I think Brandy wants to rent a tandem some time and see how that goes.  I think it will be fun and a welcome addition to the things we do together.  If not a tandem, then I hope we continue to go on these bike rides; we both need the exercise as well as the time together.
