Down in the Boondocks

Something new! I made up my own spin class. I alternated between a couple of resistances and cadences. I think next time I'll pull up a spin video and try to follow along.

Yes, I've officially wimped out on riding outside this winter.

Summer in the Country

25° F, sunny, 16 mph W wind.

I dressed almost appropriately. My hands got a little cold toward the end, so the lobster gloves are in order for the next time. I also had issues with my glasses fogging up due to the balaclava that I wore; not really sure what to do about that.

My attire:
Feet: wicking socks, thick socks, mid top basketball type shoes

Legs: bike shorts, insulated windbreaker type warmup pants

Chest: long sleeve thick UnderArmour type shirt, short sleeve tech shirt, ski shell

Hands: full gloves, non-windbreaking (my mistake)

Head: thinsulate balaclava, ear warmer headband, helmet.

Champagne taste on a beer budget

I have a goal. On the 14th of January, yeah, 2 weeks away, I want to do a 42 mile round trip ride. So, that necessitates that I ramp up the mileage fairly quick. My goal for this ride was 10.5 miles; I didn't make it.

But it's a start. I figure I need to get up to at least 21 on Saturday. The good thing is that the ride is not a race of any sorts; it's just a leisurely ride with as many stops as I want to make. Now, that said, I don't want to take 10 hours to do it either.

Charles does intervals!

Here we are, first week of November, and it is 66°F out! It was so nice, I wore summer clothes!

Anyways, today I decided to start ramping up the intensity of the rides to get us in shape for...winter. Uh, yeah, anyways, so we did mile intervals. The first and third intervals math out at just under 17 mph; the middle one was 17.56 mph ave.

Not bad for a start.

64°F? I'll take it!

It was a beautiful sunny fall day here in central Indiana! Charles passed his PT test last Thursday with 10 minutes to spare!

Now we can do some serious training.
